The accessories required depend on the flooring type, subfloor, room layout and exposed edges. A typical floating-floor installation may require underlay, scotia, transition trims and stair nosing. Scotia covers the expansion gap between floating flooring and skirting boards, walls, kitchen kickboards or cabinetry. Colour-matched scotia provides a neat, coordinated finish around the room perimeter.

Many hybrid flooring products already include attached acoustic underlay, so an additional layer is usually not required and may affect performance or warranty conditions. Separate underlay is commonly used beneath compatible laminate and engineered timber floating floors. Always confirm the flooring manufacturer's installation requirements.

Flat cover trims conceal expansion joints between adjoining floors, while L trims finish and protect exposed flooring edges. C or U channel profiles may be used at selected edges and transitions. The correct profile depends on the flooring thickness, height difference and installation detail.
