FAQS

1. Is laminate flooring waterproof or water-resistant?

Moisture performance depends on the selected range. Some laminate products provide a stated period of water resistance, while others may be described as waterproof under specific test conditions. This does not automatically make every product suitable for bathrooms, floor wastes or prolonged standing water. Check the individual warranty and room exclusions.

2. What do AC4 and AC5 laminate flooring ratings mean?

The AC rating indicates resistance to abrasion and everyday wear. AC4 products generally suit heavy residential and selected commercial use, while AC5 products are intended for higher-traffic applications. Also compare thickness, moisture performance, installation requirements and warranty when choosing laminate flooring.

3. Does laminate flooring need underlay, and can it be installed over concrete or tiles?

Most laminate flooring requires a compatible underlay unless an approved backing is already attached. Installation over concrete or tiles may be possible when the surface is clean, dry, stable and level. Concrete may require moisture testing and a vapour barrier. Always follow the selected product’s installation guide.

4. What warranty applies to laminate flooring in Australia?

Laminate warranties vary by range and may provide different residential and commercial coverage. A stated water-resistance period is not the same as the overall product warranty. Check the individual product page and supplier document for moisture exclusions, installation and care requirements. Supplier warranties are additional to rights under Australian Consumer Law.
